For years, youth basketball has sold families a simple formula: Play more games. Join the right team. Hire a trainer. Post highlights on social media.
Yet despite the explosion of tournaments, leagues, trainers, and recruiting content, far too many talented players are falling short of their college basketball goals.
The reality is that talent alone is no longer enough.
That is exactly why we’re launching a Parent-Player College Basketball Workshop designed for athletes who dream of playing at the next level and parents who want to help them get there.
And the best part? It’s completely donation-based because the goal is simple: remove financial barriers and make sure every family has access to the information they need.
The Information Gap Is Costing Families Opportunities
I know firsthand how powerful the right information can be.
As the number one prospect in Washington, the top prospect in the region, and one of the top-ranked players on the West Coast, I had opportunities because my father understood the process. He knew how to navigate the journey and put me in positions to succeed.
Years later, both of my children earned full-ride basketball scholarships because our family understood how the recruiting landscape worked.
The truth is that many families never get access to that knowledge. It’s not because they don’t work hard. It’s not because they don’t care.
It’s because no one ever showed them how the system works.
Basketball Skills Are Only Part of the Equation
Most players spend countless hours working on their game. They improve their shooting. They improve their ball handling. They improve their athleticism.
All of that matters.
But what often gets overlooked is everything outside the lines.
Questions like:
• How do you choose the right AAU program?
• How do you find the right trainer?
• How do you handle social media the right way?
• How do you communicate with coaches?
• How do you create alignment between your school team, AAU team, trainer, and long-term goals?
Without answers to those questions, families can spend years working hard while moving in different directions.
Success comes when every part of a player’s development is working together toward the same objective.
Parents Matter More Than They Realize
One of the biggest misconceptions in recruiting is that college coaches are only evaluating the athlete.
They’re not. They’re evaluating the family, too.
Coaches pay attention to how parents communicate, how they handle adversity, and how they represent themselves throughout the recruiting process.
Parents play a critical role in creating accountability, structure, and support at home.
The most successful recruiting journeys happen when players and parents work as a team.
That’s why this workshop isn’t just for athletes. It’s for families.
The Numbers Tell the Story
Every year, thousands of young athletes dream of playing college basketball. Only a small percentage actually make it.
Only 11 players from our area made it to the Division I level in consecutive graduating classes. That isn’t a number we should be satisfied with. There are dozens more athletes with the ability to earn those opportunities, but too many families lack the information, guidance, and strategy needed to get there.
When families understand the process earlier and make better choices along the way, opportunities increase dramatically.
The Game Has Changed
College athletics looks very different today than it did even a few years ago.
The recruiting landscape is changing.
Transfer portals are changing.
NIL opportunities are changing.
Roster management is changing.
What worked five or ten years ago doesn’t always work today.
Families need current information, practical strategies, and a roadmap designed for today’s reality.
That’s exactly what this workshop is designed to provide.
Stop Following the Herd
One of the greatest mistakes families make is simply doing what everyone else is doing. Following the crowd rarely creates a competitive advantage.
The players who separate themselves are often the ones who make intentional decisions, build a clear development plan, and stay focused on long-term goals instead of short-term distractions.
The goal isn’t just to participate in the process. The goal is to stand out within it.
Our Mission
This workshop is about more than recruiting.
It’s about empowering families. It’s about helping parents become informed advocates for their children. It’s about helping athletes take ownership of their futures.
And it’s about creating more opportunities for players in our community to experience everything college basketball can provide.
A college basketball career can change the trajectory of a young person’s life.
It’s worth fighting for. It’s worth preparing for. And it’s worth learning how to pursue the right way.
Join us for the Parent-Player College Basketball Workshop and learn the strategies, systems, and insights that can help your family navigate the path to college basketball with confidence.
